The case for colour realism
Colour realism is painterly. It captures the vibrancy of the living world — the warmth of a portrait, the saturation of a flower, the iridescence of an animal's eye. If your subject's identity depends on its colour (a fox's rust-orange coat, the specific blue of a loved one's eyes, a botanical piece where the bloom is the point), colour realism honours that identity in a way grayscale cannot.

Black & grey also ages gracefully. With fewer variables in play, the values that define the piece stay coherent over decades, and touch-ups are straightforward.
