Artist Spotlight: The Leilani Tattoos & Art Approach

Behind every studio is a story, and ours begins with a leap of faith.
From the beginning
Leilani's art career started with humble beginnings. At seven years old, she knew she wanted to be an artist — but like many artists, the practical path won out first. She became a teacher. The work was meaningful, but never fully satisfying, and the artistic side of her kept asking for attention.
So she took a leap of faith: a long tattoo apprenticeship, and a new career as a tattoo artist. In her own words, she has a lot to thank tattooing for — it reignited her desire to make art, and the independence and curiosity it brought filled her heart with joy.
What drives the work
Through her work, Leilani explores self-expression, nature, freedom, beauty and storytelling. Her inspiration is sparked by a deep desire to be inspired — and to inspire others to freely express themselves in the world.
"We all search for answers to who we are, while craving freedom to be what we are." That belief shapes every piece: the goal is a tattoo that tells a story — your story — and offers a space for you to be seen.
The craft: realism, made to last
The studio specializes in colour realism and black & grey realism, alongside custom botanical work and original fine art. Every piece is custom-designed through a consultation-led process: share your vision, talk it through, refine the design, and then — tattoo day.
The studio motto says it best: trust the process.
A studio built on care
Based in New Westminster, BC, the studio runs on an appointment-only basis, which keeps every session private, calm and unhurried. Ali, the booking manager with over a decade of administrative experience, guides every client from first enquiry to final booking. Aftercare is treated as part of the work itself — every client receives detailed guidance and one free touch-up within six months.
Recognition
The studio's work has been recognized at the Vancouver Tattoo & Culture Show and the Ink the 6ix Tattoo Expo, and Leilani is part of the Recovery Aftercare Pro Team.
